Soothing Skin: Goat Milk Soap Making

Are you interested in learning how to craft your own goat milk soap? Now is your chance! This cold-process goat milk soap-making class is a great entrance into the world of soapmaking. Create skin-loving, decadent goat milk soap using farm-fresh goat's milk!  If you are looking for a soap that is not harsh and keeps your skin healthy, then join us in making your own goat milk soap. Goat milk soap is known for being a gentle cleanser, rich in nutrients, with a natural exfoliant. In this hands-on class, you will be educated on the oils and butter you can use, and your instructor will guide you in customizing your soap. You will use pure and skin-healthy products and will have a selection of scents and color options to tailor your soap to your personality. You will create 4 bars of handmade soap, which will be cured after class and will be ready just in time for holiday gift-giving, or for you to enjoy yourself.

Materials are included with the course fee.  Please bring safety goggles to class.

 

The Art of Pysanky - Ukrainian Eggs

Explore the art, symbolism, and joy in creating a pysanky egg. Learn how you can transform a plain, ordinary white egg into an intricately decorated pysanky egg. Pysanky are a traditional Ukrainian art form that carries special meaning and is loaded with legends. These works of art are created using layers of wax and dye, which create ornate patterns and unique designs. You will be guided through all the steps of creating your own pysanky, emphasizing proper technique and encouraging individualized, creative designs. This class will allow participants to create a pysanky of their own while learning about the history and tradition behind the eggs. No experience is necessary. 

All supplies are provided. Please bring a container to take your egg home in.

Posture & Osteoporosis Workshop: Building Better Bones

Have you ever caught sight of your reflection in a window or mirror to see that your head leads the way? Or noticed that your shoulders and upper back are too rounded forward? You’ll learn simple techniques to improve posture and stand straighter. We’ll do exercises to help flatten the upper back, unround shoulders, and flatten your midsection. Learn how to reduce the risk of osteoporosis and regain bone mass. We’ll discuss the latest research findings on nutrition, minerals, trace minerals needed for bone health, foods that help and/or harm your bones, and more. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.

You will need a resistance band or tube for some of the exercises.

Thyroid Things You Need To Know

If you currently take thyroid medication but are still gaining weight and still have a variety of symptoms, there’s more you need to know. Fatigue, weight gain, depression, anxiety, rising cholesterol levels, inability to focus, thinning hair, digestive problems, abnormal blood pressure, reduced drive, and heart palpitations are only some of the symptoms.  We’ll discuss the 5 things that need to be measured, but usually aren’t: why the #1 thyroid replacement may not be helping you; foods that help or hinder; commonly misunderstood rules of how and when to take thyroid meds; environmental triggers and information you need to discuss with your doctor. This workshop is a source of information only and should by no means be considered a substitute for the advice of a qualified medical professional.

Defensive Driving Insurance/Point Reduction Course

This point and insurance reduction program reviews safe driving and accident-avoidance techniques. Upon completion of the class, drivers are eligible for a 10% reduction in their auto insurance and/or up to 4 points removed from their DMV driving record. Drivers may take the course every three years for insurance reduction and every 18 months for point reduction. All drivers listed on an insurance policy are eligible to complete the course. This is a great way to reduce the cost of your auto insurance!
